After a lifetime dedicated to education and religious services in the Philippines, Prof. Dr. Norma Şerif, renowned for her unparalleled contributions to Islamic sciences and education, passed away in the sacred city of Mecca, leaving behind an unforgettable legacy.
Since her involvement in the Nur services beginning at the 2004 Manila International Book Fair, Prof. Dr. Norma Şerif lived a life devoted to education and spiritual development. During her tenure as the Chairperson of the Higher Education Commission of the Moro Autonomous Region, she founded the Philippines Risale-i Nur Institute, a pivotal initiative that illuminated the spiritual paths of hundreds of thousands of university students.
Turning her own home into a madrasa and dedicating her properties for the service of the community, she channeled her resources entirely toward societal spiritual growth. Beyond her academic achievements, she pioneered a profound transformation in the education system by incorporating Asa-yı Musa as a reference work in the official curriculum.
While on an Umrah pilgrimage, Prof. Dr. Norma Şerif fell ill and spent her final days in intensive care. She passed away during Regaip Night, a Friday night considered one of the holiest times in Islam. This divine coincidence serves as a testament to her life of unwavering spiritual commitment.
